Sanctuary Director
Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary
Chris
Swarth is a wetland ecologist and ornithologist. Since 1989 he
has been the Director of the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in
Lothian, Maryland. At the Sanctuary, he also oversees a corps of
about 350 research and education volunteers, and is mentor to
two to three university research interns every summer.

Kriste Garman
Park Manager
Otter Point Creek
Kriste Garman has worked
in the natural resource management and environmental education
fields for 23 years, working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service in Maryland and Virginia, and the Baltimore County
Department of Recreation and Parks and the Harford County
Department of Parks and Recreation in Maryland. Previously
a Park Naturalist at the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center Kriste
was named Acting Park Manager in November 2010 and Park
Manager in April 2011.

Greg Lewis is the Nature
Facility and Program Manager of the Patuxent River Park on the
Prince George’s County side of CBNERR’s Jug Bay component. Greg is
responsible for managing over 7,000 acres of parkland on the
Patuxent River Park.

In May 2010 Leslie Wright became the CBNERR Monie Bay Volunteer
Coordinator, and he now based at Wellington Wildlife Management
Area on the Lower Eastern Shore. Monie Bay is located on the
Deal Island Peninsula and covers approximately 3,426 acres.

Research Intern
Heather Goad was
introduced to CBNERR through her position as a Wild Rice
restoration research assistant and park naturalist at Patuxent
River Park (PRP). She currently works as a CBNERR Research
Intern under Pati Delgado while continuing the part-time park
naturalist position at PRP.

Trystan Sill
Education Assistant
Trystan is one of several 10-month contractual CBNERR staff. She
has been part of the program since June 2010. In 2008, she
began a masters of conservation biology program at the
University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and in June
2009 it was completed at Victoria University of Wellington in
Wellington, New Zealand.

Research Intern
Becky Lang is a Research Intern with CBNERR as of June 2010.
Along with the rest of the research team, she goes out to all
three sites to sample emergent vegetation, submerged aquatic
