Monitoring Programs

Volunteers, interns and staff participate in multiple monitoring projects at various tidal and non-tidal sites throughout the Maryland Reserve. Many of these projects compliment both national and CBNERR-MD research efforts such as the System Wide Monitoring Program (SWMP). Additional monitoring projects include:

  • larval fish monitoring
  • fish seining, identification and tracking
  • monitoring reptiles and amphibians through "herp searches”
  • turtle telemetry and box turtle surveys
  • North American Amphibian Calling Surveys
  • Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Monitoring.

To find out about volunteer monitoring opportunities contact the CBNERR-MD Stewardship Coordinator or the volunteer coordinators at the Jug Bay and Otter Point Creek components.
