Outdoor Activities for Children

You will need:

  • A disposable aluminum pie pan
  • A piece of string or yard
  • Natural objects like small pieces of evergreen, berries, holly leaves, or small pine cones
  • Water
  • What to do:

  • Fill the pie pan with cold water.
  • Place the yarn around the edge of the pan. Be sure that the yarn is in the water. Leave enough yarn outside the pan to serve as a hanger.
  • Arrange the natural objects in the middle of the pan.
  • If it is below freezing outside, you can put the pan outside until the water freezes; otherwise, you can put it in the freezer.
  • When it is completely frozen, remove it from the pan. You may have to dip the bottom of the pan in warm water to help loosen it.
  • Now take your hanging outside, hang it from a tree branch, and watch it sparkle.
