THURMONT, MD — Cunningham Falls State Park will hold its 34th Annual Maple Syrup-Making Demonstration in the William Houck Area on March 13, 14, 20, and 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you have ever wondered how maple syrup gets from the tree to your table, this is your chance for enlightenment. Come to the park to learn about the history, lore, and method of making maple syrup. The park requests a donation of $2 per person or $1 per person for youth groups.

Rangers and naturalists will demonstrate the process of making maple syrup, including tree tapping, boiling, and packaging. Park personnel and volunteers will give talks about the history and current status of one of America’s early agricultural products. A sign-language interpreter will be available on March 14 and 21. Special arrangements can be made for school groups; interested parties should call the park for more information.

A pancake-and-sausage breakfast will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Pancakes are $2.50 and $3.50 with sausage.
