Don’t Miss April’s Easter Egg Hunts
ANNAPOLIS — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources maintains a database of fun-filled family events happening in around our State Parks and other managed properties.
Members of the media are also encouraged to visit the DNR Online Calendar located at http://dnr.maryland.gov/ and clicking on the “Events Calendar” in the “What’s Going On” section on the left-hand side of the home page. The “Events Calendar” is updated regularly.

Allegany County
April 10, noon to 3 P.M.
Easter Egg Hunt
Rocky Gap State Park
Children from tiny tots to 12 years of age roam the campground searching for colored eggs. The Easter Bunny visits with children as they wait for the starting whistle. This is a free event.Anne Arundel County

Arbor Day Seedling Give Away
DNR Headquarters, Tawes State Office Building, C-1 Conference Room
Free pine seedlings will be given away in the lobby of the Tawes Building in celebration of Maryland's Arbor Day.April 19, 5 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.

View artifacts and exhibits pertinent to the history of this early industrial village listed on the National Register. Visitors can watch blacksmithing demonstration and observe the daily routines of a colonial Village Gunshop.April 8, 6 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Spring Peeper Hikes
Hammerman Area (April 5) and North Point State Park (April 12)
The sound of the nocturnal spring peeper is among the first signs of spring. Search for this elusive frog and other amphibians. Participants should wear long pants and hiking shoes, and bring a flashlight. Pre-registration is required, call 410-592-2897.April 12, 19, 7 P.M. to 9 P.M.
Night Hikes/Owl Prowls
Days Cove (April 12) and North Point State Park (April 19)
Discover a new way to explore the woods at night. Put on a blindfold and be led along a trail to experience the night with your other senses. Learn about the special adaptations that make owls such successful hunters in the dark. You can count on an eye-opening experience at the end! Bring a blindfold and insect repellent. QUIET is the key to a successful night hike; please plan accordingly when considering the participation of young children. Pre-registration required, call: 410-592-2897. Spring Egg Hunt
North Point State Park
Meet outside the Visitor Center. Children from 3-12 years old can come to North Point for an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt. Easter Bonnet contest prizes will also be awarded. Pre-registration is required. Call: 410-592-2897. Cost: $1 per child.April 26, 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.
Student Service/Volunteer Earth Day Cleanup North Point State Park
Join park staff and other volunteers for an Earth Day celebration by cleaning up the beach and trails at North Point. Come individually, or gather a group from your school, church, neighborhood or office. This is a great way for students to earn Service Learning hours! The park will provide trash bags and necessary tools; participants should wear sturdy boots and bring gloves. Insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended.Carroll County

Tree Planting
Cross Roads Overlook, Rt. 27 and Westminster St.
The Manchester Tree Commission is sponsoring a tree planting and tree maintenance day. The commission and volunteers will plant 500 seedlings and mulch existing trees and shrubs. This is a free event.April 16, 10 A.M. to 12 P.M.
Tree Planting
Roberts Mill Park, intersection of Roberts Mill Road and Stumpstown Rd
The Carroll County Forestry Board, the Silver Fancy Garden Club and the Maryland DNR Forest Service are sponsoring a tree planting at the Roberts Mill Park in Taneytown. The organizations will plant 35 landscape trees. Volunteers are welcome to join. If it is raining heavily, the planting will be postponed until Saturday April 24. This is a free event.Garrett County

Fourth Annual Ramp Cook-Off

16th Annual Tuckahoe State Park Easter Egg Hunt
Tuckahoe State Park
Join the park staff for a hunt for over 3,500 hidden eggs, including special prize eggs. Children up to age 10 are welcome. Please bring a basket or bag for your eggs. This is a free event.April 17, 6 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
Evening Canoe Trip on Tuckahoe Creek
Tuckahoe State Park
Join the park naturalist for a guided canoe trip on tranquil Tuckahoe Creek in search of wildlife. Paddlers must be at least 8 years of age. All equipment provided. Capacity limited to 18 participants. Pre-registration required. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.Washington County

National Wild Turkey Federation - J.A.K.E.S.
