Media Advisory:
Governor Ehrlich to Sign Chesapeake Bay Watershed Restoration Fund into Law
WHO: Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., Lt. Governor Michael S. Steele, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller and House Speaker Michael E. Busch.
WHAT: Signing of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Restoration Fund into law. This legislation is the State’s most important environmental initiative in 30 years; it creates a dedicated fund to upgrade Maryland’s largest wastewater treatment plants to Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) technology. Once these plants are operating at ENR standards, conservatively 7.5 million pounds of nitrogen will stop going into the Bay — almost 40% of the annually 20 million pound nitrogen reduction goal established by the 2010 Bay cleanup goals.
WHEN: WEDNESDAY, MAY 26, 9 A.M.
WHERE: Annapolis City Dock, onboard the Pride of Baltimore II.
***Limited reserved parking is available for live media trucks only in front of Phillips Seafood restaurant. Those with live media trucks planning to attend need to RSVP by 6 PM on Tuesday 5/25 (TODAY) to Heather Lynch at hlynch@dnr.state.md.us or 410-260-8010.
