Sandy Point State Park Closed Today Until Further Notice
Power outage forces closure
ANNAPOLIS, MD— Due to a power outage, Sandy Point State Park near the Bay Bridge will be closed today until further notice. Without electricity, the park cannot operate restrooms, concessions and other facilities.
The park lost power last night around 8 p.m. State Forest and Park Service officials worked through the night with Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) to isolate the problem and attempt to remedy it.
Park officials were expecting between 6,000-10,000 visitors today at the 786-acre park, is one of the state’s most popular. Its location on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, along with its wide range of amenities makes it a popular destination year-round. The park hosts more than 1 million visitors annually.
