Elk Neck State Park Swimming Area Closed Again Until Further Notice

NORTH EAST -- State Forest and Park Service officials announced today that the public swimming area at Elk Neck State Park is again closed until further notice due to the presence of elevated fecal coliform bacteria levels on the North East River side of the park.

Cecil County Health Department officials recently tested the water; initial results confirmed a positive presence of the bacteria at a higher than acceptable level.

The beach will remain closed until further notice. State Forest and Park Service officials will continue to work with the Cecil County Health Department to test the water, determine the source of the bacteria, and keep the public informed.
