Governor Ehrlich Announces BPW Approval of $50,000 for Charles County
Planning integral part of land preservation in the county
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Offering his support for counties who are preparing their Land Preservation and Recreation Plans, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. today announced Board of Public Works approval of $50,000 in Program Open Space funds for Charles County.
“Planning is a key component in the land preservation process,” said Governor Ehrlich. “Updating these plans every six years ensures that we are not missing any parcels of land that should be a part of the process.”

The Board approved $50,000 in Program Open Space funds to cover the cost of preparing the Charles County 2005 Land Preservation and Recreation Plan, a planning project required by state law.
DNR’s Program Open Space is a nationally recognized program that provides funding for Maryland’s state and local parks and conservation areas. More than 4,600 county and municipal park and conservation projects have been completed through the program, improving the quality of life for millions of Marylanders.
