DNR Celebrates Arbor Day And “Tree-Mendous Maryland” Month With Tree Planting Activities
Governor Ehrlich Proclaims April 6 Maryland Arbor Day
ANNAPOLIS — Join the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Forest Service as it celebrates TREE-MENDOUS MARYLAND Month and Arbor Day during April. Traditionally, Maryland Arbor Day is celebrated on the first Wednesday in April (April 6) while National Arbor Day is always the last Friday of the month (April 29). Through the TREE-MENDOUS MARYLAND program, approximately 10,000 trees and 50,000 seedlings will be planted on public lands this month.

Anne Arundel County
- April 11, 10 a.m. – St. Martin’s School in Severna Park will hold a tree planting
- April 13, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Arbor Day Seedling Giveaway in the lobby of the Tawes State Office Building in Annapolis
- April 16, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Tree planting with the Boy Scouts and United States Naval Academy Midshipmen at Greenbury Point
- April 18, 7 p.m. – A PLANT Award Ceremony will be held at the Arundel Center in Annapolis
- April 22, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Severn School will hold a tree planting at Sandy Point State Park in honor of Earth Day
Baltimore City
- April 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Eighty students from the Cathedral School will plant trees and conduct maintenance activities in Druid Hill Park
- April 19, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. –The Maryland State Highway Administration will be distributing seedlings as part of its Earth Day Celebration
- April 30, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. –The Rotary Club will be planting trees in Druid Hill Park
Frederick County
- April 6, 1 p.m. – A PLANT Award ceremony will be held in Frederick
Howard County
- April 19, 2 p.m. – PLANT Award ceremony will be held at the Elk Ridge Library. Rep. Ben Cardin (D-3rd District) is scheduled to speak
Kent County
- April 26, 1:15 p.m. – A PLANT Award ceremony will be held at the Kent County Courthouse
Montgomery County
- April 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – More than 100 students from Watkins Mill High School will plant trees in Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg
St. Mary’s County
- April 16, 10:30 to 11 a.m. – A PLANT Award ceremony and Arbor Day tree planting will be held in the St. Mary's County Governmental Center
- April 30, 12 to 4 p.m. – A PLANT Award ceremony and Arbor Day tree planting will be held at the Montgomery County History Farm
Somerset County
- April 19, 2:30 p.m. – A PLANT Award presentation will be made at the Somerset County Building
Queen Anne’s County
- April 15 – Chesapeake College will host a PLANT Award Ceremony, an Arbor Day tree planting and a seedling distribution
Washington County
- April 7, 1 p.m. – A PLANT Award ceremony will be held in Hagerstown
Wicomico County
- April 19, 10 a.m. – A PLANT Award presentation will be part of the Wicomico County Council meeting
Worcester County
- April 19, 10 a.m. – A PLANT Award presentation will be part of the Worcester County Commissioners meeting
- April 22, 10 a.m. – An Arbor Day Celebration will held at the Worcester County Recreation Center
- April 29, 10 a.m. – An Arbor Day celebration will be held at Northside Park in Ocean City and will include a PLANT Award ceremony
