Maryland Natural Resources Police Arrest Couple for Operating Under the Influence and Assault

CROWNSVILLE— On Friday, June 24, Natural Resources Police (NRP) arrested a Crownsville man and Edgewater woman in the Round Bay area of the Severn River for operating a vessel while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer.

NRP officers originally stopped a 60-foot motor yacht for operating without any navigation lights. Stephen Gregory Carl, 53, of Crownsville was operating the vessel. He was accompanied by a female passenger, Michelle Yvonne Micklos, 38, of Edgewater. Upon stopping the vessel, officers determined that Carl was intoxicated and placed him under arrest. Carl refused to comply with officers’ orders and had to be forcefully restrained. While the officers attempted to remove Carl from the vessel, Micklos verbally and physically assaulted them. As a result, Micklos was also placed under arrest.

Micklos was charged with three counts of second-degree assault and hindering. She was taken before the Annapolis District Court Commissioner where her bond was set at $15,000. She was remanded to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

Carl was charged with resisting arrest, operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol, operating a vessel while impaired by alcohol, negligent operation, and operating a vessel without proper running lights. He was taken before the Annapolis District Court Commissioner, where he was released on his personal recognizance.
