Missing Boater’s Body Recovered
On Sunday, Aug. 7, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the NRP and the U.S. Coast Guard recovered the body of Donald Deluca, 52, of Virginia, who had been missing since Saturday (Aug. 6) afternoon near Point Lookout. He was last seen on the Potomac River near the mouth of the Yeocomico River. An unbuckled PFD was found on the surface of the water; initial investigation indicates that Deluca was possibly wearing his life jacket unbuckled when he went into the water. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy. NRP continues to investigate the incident.
