Beaches at Ocean City, Assateague Stand-Up to Wilma
Heavy winds and waves caused by Hurricane Wilma and a nor’easter pounded the beaches in Ocean City and Assateague earlier this week, but caused only minor damage to fencing and limited erosion of the dunes. The dunes at Assateague restored over the last two years prevented damage to the State Park facility, while Ocean City experienced only minor erosion to the toe of the dunes at the north end and no damage behind the dunes.
