Patuxent River Man Charged With Vandalizing Vehicle

NRP charged Jamal M. Peoples, 22, of Patuxent River with malicious destruction of property and filing a false police report Tuesday, Nov. 8, in St. Mary’s County. Peoples allegedly beat a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, registered to his father, with a sledgehammer at Point Lookout State Park. Peoples then filed a police report claiming that the vehicle was vandalized after being left overnight in the park. A person found guilty of malicious destruction of property could receive a maximum penalty of 3 years in jail and or $2,500 fine. The maximum penalty for making a false police report is 6 months in jail and or $500 fine.
