BPW Approves $687,229 in Program Open Space Funds for Worcester County

On January 3, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. announced that the Board of Public Works approved $687,229 in Program Open Space funds for Worcester County for two development projects. John Walter Smith Park will receive $369,000 to renovate two existing tennis courts, install a blacktop overlay on an existing 38,000 square-foot stone parking lot and construct a maintenance administration building. The Northern Worcester Athletic Complex will receive $318,229 to implement the next phase of the master drainage and landscape plan, which includes the installation of a blacktop on the existing 10,500 square-foot stone parking area. Picnic tables, benches and walking paths will also be funded.
