DNR To Hold Public Meetings On Proposed 2008 Inland Fisheries Regulations
ANNAPOLIS — Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Secretary John R. Griffin today announced a series of public meetings to discuss and hear comments on proposed inland fisheries regulations being considered for 2008. DNR’s Inland Fisheries Division offers these meetings as opportunities for interested parties to discuss fisheries management with staff in an informational exchange and learning experience.Public meetings for 2008 proposals are scheduled as followed:
- April 25: Greenbrier State Park Visitor’s Center, Route 40, Washington County - 6:30 p.m.
- May 1: Cedarville Natural Resource Area Visitor’s Center, Cedarville, Prince George’s County - 7 p.m.
- May 3: Natural Resources Police Eastern Region Office, Area 2, Route 309 and 404, Hillsboro, Queen Anne’s County - 7 p.m.
- May 8: Appalachian Laboratory, Midlothian Road, Frostburg, Allegany County - 7 p.m.
- May 9: Patapsco Valley State Park, Hollofield Headquarters, Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, Howard County - 7 p.m.
The following changes are being proposed for the Inland Fisheries Division for the year 2008.

- Add a new Youth and Blind Person Fishing Area for Parkview Pond in Grantsville.
- Modify regulations on the use of dipnets to include cast nets and seines.
DNR’s Fisheries staff encourages the public to take part in these important discussions relating to inland fisheries management with staff. Ideas that may benefit the resource will be researched for possible inclusion in Inland Fisheries regulation proposals to be developed for 2009 and later.DNR Inland Fisheries Division management activities are supported by the Sportfish Restoration Program (Dingell-Johnson/Wallop-Breaux) funds, and by fees from the sale of freshwater fishing licenses and trout stamps.
All interested parties are invited to attend and give their views. Sign language interpreters and other appropriate accommodations for individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request( (one-week advance notice for is requested).
