"Canopy Meg" Coming to Deep Creek Lake State Park
International canopy researcher Dr. Margaret Lowman (a.k.a. Canopy Meg) will be at the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park Saturday, May 19, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for a book signing. Later that same evening, she will be speaking at Garrett College. Dr. Lowman has developed an expertise for the use of different canopy access techniques, including ropes, walkways, hot air balloons, construction cranes, and combinations of these methods. The Discovery Center is the site of a future Forest Canopy Walkway which will allow access to the upper parts of the forest that normally go unseen.
