Public Comment Period For Proposed State Forest Annual Work Plans Closes July 24
MD DNR Invites Public to Comment through Online Forum
ANNAPOLIS – Over the next 30 days, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Forest Service will hold an online public forum to solicit comments on the proposed annual work plans for Green Ridge, Pocomoke, Potomac-Garrett and Savage River State Forests. The public is invited to review and comment on the proposed plans, from June 25 through July 24, 2007.

The proposed annual work plans identify the detailed forest management goals to be accomplished during the 2008 fiscal year within the scope of the forest's long-range management plan. Specifically, the plans describe silvicultural operations, maintenance and construction projects, and other work to be performed in each forest.
This public forum is the third step in a three-step review process. During the first step, a team of resource professionals from the fields of wildlife, fisheries, heritage, forestry, recreation, water resources and resource planning conducted an internal review. During the second step, an appointed advisory committee reviewed the proposed plans. After this final 30-day comment period, forest managers and staff will carefully review the comments and make adjustments to the plan where appropriate.
