Maryland State Forester Elected As National Association Of State Foresters Officer
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Maryland Department of Natural Resources State Forester, Steve Koehn, was recently elected Treasurer of the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) at its 85th annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
"I am deeply honored for this opportunity to serve and I look forward to working with my counterparts from around the nation to promote sustainable forestry on state and private forestlands," said Koehn.
As past president of the Northeast Area Association of State Foresters (NAASF), Koehn was nominated by his colleagues from 20 states and voted into the office of Treasurer.
A seasoned and highly skilled licensed forester with 23 years of experience in forest resource management, 22 of those years serving the State of Maryland and every governor since Harry Hughes, Koehn’s magnetism to the outdoors began at a young age when he became involved in scouting and camping. Koehn has a love for the mountains of western Maryland, the piney woods of the Eastern Shore and the shady tree lined cities and towns in between. Koehn resides in Parkton, MD with his wife and two daughters.
The National Association of State Foresters is comprised of the directors of state and territorial agencies and the District of Columbia. Through public-private partnership, NASF seeks to advance sustainable forestry, conservation, and protection of forest lands and their associated resources.
