DNR Offers Tips On Buying Firewood

Firewood consumers should be aware of information about the wood and laws regarding selling firewood to help them make the best decision when purchasing firewood. It is important to only purchase firewood from a licensed business and to check their references. Different wood types have different burning qualities, such as density, ease of splitting, and coaling quality. To help prevent the spread of the invasive emerald ash borer, firewood users should refrain from transporting firewood from infested areas and from other states into Maryland.
