DNR Planner Receives U.S. Green Building Council Leadership Award
BALTIMORE, MD — The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Baltimore Regional Chapter recently honored Sean McGuire of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Office for a Sustainable Future at the Third Annual Green Leadership Awards Celebration.
“Sean has been the great force ensuring that the Maryland Green Building Network remains active,” said David Pratt, President of the USGBC Baltimore Regional Chapter. “Sean’s efforts to encourage others to implement green building practices stem from his personal motivation and passion for ensuring Maryland’s sustainable future,” he added.
Sean McGuire served as a catalyst in the creation of the Executive Order signed by then-Governor Parris N. Glendening that established the Maryland Green Building Council. The Green Building Network is an ad-hoc organization of architects, builders, contractors, developers, planners, landscape architects, related professionals, and citizens. Numbering more than 3,000 individuals and affiliations, the Network promotes designing and constructing buildings, and the development of sites in a manner that encourages efficient use of natural resources and raw materials, protects the environment, and promotes sustainable communities. McGuire currently resides in Annapolis.
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, Mayor Shelia Dixon, Baltimore County Councilman Vince Gardina, Urbanite Magazine, and Struever Bros. Eccles and Rouse also received awards during the celebration.
