DNR Announces Winners of the 2007 Maryland Hunter Contest
Garrett County Hunter Wins Grand Prize

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife and Heritage Services announces the 2007 Maryland Hunter Contest winners. The grand prize winner, Brian Harvey of Accident, MD, received a $500 gift certificate courtesy of the Maryland Sportsmen’s Association (MSA). Mr. Harvey will use his gift certificate at D & B Sport Shop in Oakland, MD. An additional 37 hunters won a complimentary 2008-2009 Maryland Hunting License.

Wendy Donahoo, President of the Maryland Sportsmen’s Association randomly drew the name of the grand prize winner. At the drawing, Donahoo also announced that MSA will also provide Mr. Harvey with a complimentary one year membership to the statewide sportsman’s group.

“The contest is designed to encourage hunters to visit local businesses who have served as long-standing hunting and wildlife management partners with DNR,” said Bob Beyer, Associate Director of the DNR Wildlife and Heritage Service. “The contest aims to thank outdoor retailers and hunters for their long-standing support of wildlife management programs in Maryland and reinvigorating some of the camaraderie of the former check station model.”

Junior hunters are reminded to continue to visit one of the participating agents through spring turkey season to receive a personalized junior hunter certificate and have their picture posted on the DNR website.
