Renovations Scheduled For Elk Neck State Forest’s Shooting Range
Rifle & Shotgun Shooting Ranges to Temporarily Close on May 5
CECIL COUNTY, MD – The Rifle and Shotgun Shooting Ranges at Elk Neck State Forest will temporarily close for renovations beginning May 5. The Pistol and Archery Ranges will remain open during this project at their normally scheduled hours.
“We hope that the renovations to the ranges, which includes baffle replacements, will create a better place for hunters to safely practice their shooting technique,” said Department of Natural Resources Forest Ranger, Shawn Day. “We appreciate the patience of our customers while these renovations are underway.”
Visitors should call the Elk Neck State Forest office at 410-287-5675 in advance before traveling to the Forest to check on the status of the closure and anticipated re-opening date. While the Pistol Range will remain open, users may not shoot rifles, shotguns, or muzzle loaders on the Pistol Range during this period of time and usage rules will be strictly enforced.
