Swallow Falls State Park Hosts Annual Apple Butter Boil This Weekend
Oakland — Swallow Falls State Park invites families to enjoy the park’s annual apple butter boil and corn roast this Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will enjoy arts, crafts, and music while learning how to make traditional apple butter.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for families to come enjoy the beautiful Maryland outdoors while learning a deep-rooted rural tradition,” said Sue Steyer, Park Ranger at Swallow Falls and Herrington Manor State Parks. “People will enjoy pottery demonstrations, listening to live musicians, and plenty of food while we boil the apples down to delicious butter.”
Visitors can also learn how to attract and shelter bluebirds in their backyards by building a bluebird box. Admission to the event and state park is $2 for Maryland residents and $3 for out-of-state visitors.
Swallows State Park, located nine miles north of Oakland, offers some of Maryland's most breathtaking scenery.
