Cedar Point Wildlife Management Area Opens to Hunting
Welcome, Md. (September 21, 2009) –
Cedar Point Wildlife Management
Area (WMA) is now open to hunting. The Maryland Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) acquired the 1,926-acre property - located in the southwestern
portion of Charles County - in March 2009.
“This new Charles County Wildlife Management Area will provide a variety of new
hunting opportunities for Maryland sportsmen and women,” said Southern Region
Habitat Manager Jim Bennett. “Cedar Point WMA’s diversity of woodlands,
wetlands, agricultural fields and shoreline will provide numerous opportunities
to hunt upland and forest game, migratory game birds, waterfowl and deer.”
Hunting on Cedar Point WMA is in accordance with established season dates and
bag limits, except for waterfowl. Waterfowl hunting at Cedar Point WMA will open
Dec 15.
Hunter access to Cedar Point WMA will not require possession of a seasonal
permit or daily reservations. Hunters must park in designated parking areas and
the number of vehicles permitted per parking area will be limited and designated
on signs posted in the parking areas.
Additional information about the Cedar Point WMA is available online at
