Maryland Park Service To Host Public Reception For Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park

Annapolis, Md. (September 20, 2010) —  The Maryland Park Service will host a reception September 22 for citizens to learn more about the future Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park. Guests can view displays of the visitor’s center and exhibit hall. Project architects, designers, park staff, partners, and members of the working group will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the park. The reception will take place at 6 p.m. on September 22 at the Harriet Tubman Organization Museum in Cambridge, Md.

The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park is a 17-acre proposed State Park with a visitor’s center featuring stories of Harriet Tubman’s life growing up on the Eastern Shore, her daring escapes and civil rights advocacy. The State Park will also include a Memorial walking trail, reflection pond and pavilion. The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park is one of many exciting stops on the 150-mile Maryland segment of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway.
