DNR To Hold Public Meetings On Sustainable Forestry

Annapolis, Md. (October 17, 2011) -The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Sustainable Forestry Council will hold public interest meetings to discuss the No Net Loss Proposal on October 18 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. and November 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the C-1 Conference Room of the Tawes State Office Building in Annapolis.

These two meetings will provide the public and interested stakeholders an opportunity to hear a presentation on the Councilís draft proposals and offer verbal or written comments. The Sustainable Forestry Council was established in the Sustainable Forestry Act of 2009 (SB 549) in the 2009 General Assembly to advise the Department on all matters related to sustainable forestry in Maryland. The initial focus of the Council has been to develop proposals for the development of statutory, budgetary, and regulatory policies to achieve no net loss of forests in the State.
