New Germany State Park To Host Winterfest Chili Cook-Off

Grantsville, Md. (January 6, 2012)New Germany State Park will host a Winterfest Chili Cook-off on Saturday, January 14 at New Germany State Park. The festival will feature a snowshoe race, a cross-country ski race and family-friendly craft activities.

“This event is the perfect way to celebrate the great frosty outdoors,” said Ranger Elena Bode of New Germany State Park. “There’s nothing better than a hot bowl of chili and a roaring fire after a crisp day on the trails!”

Event Schedule:

  • Snowshoe 50-Yard Dash: Registration 11 a.m., Race 11:30 a.m.
  • Cross-Country Ski Race: Registration 12 p.m., Race 1 p.m.
  • Chili Cook-Off, Public Tasting & Judging: 2 p.m. (Pre-registration Required)
  • Awards Ceremony: 3:30 p.m.
  • Craft Activities: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration is free and will take place at the New Germany Lake House. Cross-country skis and snowshoes will be available for rent at the Lake House. Pre-registration for the Chili Cook-off is required by January 13. Electricity will be provided.
