Maryland State Parks Celebrate National Trails Day June 2
Volunteers needed to help with Clean-ups
Annapolis, Md. (May 30, 2012) — In celebration of National Trails Day, seven Maryland State Parks will be hosting trail-related cleanups and a variety of family-friendly activities on Saturday, June 2.
Park staff are seeking volunteers to help them clean and upgrade trails, install signage and remove invasive plants. Participants are invited to celebrate their hard work with fun outdoor activities, including guided hikes, geo-caching challenges and scavenger hunts.
National Trails Day occurs on the first Saturday of every June and encourages people of all ages to discover and enjoy America’s vast network of trails. Volunteers should wear clothes appropriate for trail work, gloves and sturdy boots and bring water, snacks, insect repellant and enthusiasm for making a difference in our State Parks. Participants should contact the State park directly to register and for additional details about each event.
