Initiated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Green Building Network (GBN) is an ad-hoc, informal group of architects, builders, contractors, developers, planners, landscape architects, related professionals, and citizens. Numbering more than 3,000 individuals and affiliations, the Network focuses on promoting and encouraging the design and construction of buildings, and the development of sites, in a manner that encourages efficient use of natural resources and raw materials, protects the environment, and promotes sustainable communities.
The GBN provides interested professionals and citizens with the opportunity to meet, share information, and highlight successful green building/green development projects throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. The GBN also assists DNR with identifying and implementing outreach and education opportunities to promote sustainable building and environmentally responsible development practices throughout the state.
The general public is always warmly invited to GBN meetings. They are sponsored by the Green Building Institute and held on the first Tuesday of every month, except for holidays, starting at 6:30pm at the EnviroCenter in Jessup, MD. To be added to the GBN e-mail list or for more information, visit http://www.greenbuildinginstitute.org/GBN.html
