Striped bass tournament organizers need authorization in the form of a signed letter from DNR in order to hold a tournament.
To obtain authorization tournament organizers need to submit the following information to Dianne Samuels:

- A mailing address
- Supply a flyer of the tournament if available
- Other specific information needed includes date of tournament, approximate number of participants, where it is held, geographic boundaries of tournament, principal contact and if it's an annual event which edition.
Once the tournament is granted authorization, data needs to be collected. Tournament organizers must agree to all striped bass being checked into tournament check stations and they must have their length (to the nearest 1/4 inch) and weight recorded. Catch & Release tournaments will record only length. Approval for future tournaments will be contingent upon tournament organizers supplying this information. Data sheets are due to DNR no later than 30 days after the tournament date.
