The weather man is predicting some beautiful weather for this weekend and fishermen will be ready to take advantage of it and enjoy some fishing in the Ocean City area. Surf water temperatures are slowing rising and fish are beginning to bite. There are flounder inside the inlet and spread from the Route 90 Bridge to Assateague. A falling tide helps improve the flounder bite as warmer waters from the shallower areas of the back bays mix with the colder waters.
Tautog are being caught inside the Ocean City Inlet along jetties, bulkheads and near bridge piers. The fishing will get better as water temperatures climb and with nice weather forecast for the weekend it’s a fun activity. The evening crew has been casting soft plastic jigs in and around the inlet and back bays and a few undersized striped bass have been caught.
Surf fishermen have been fishing with cut baits and picking a spiny and smooth dogfish along with skates. A few medium sized black drum were caught this past week in the surf at Assateague.
Fishermen venturing out to the inshore wreck sites report fair to good tautog fishing on many of the wrecks this past week and that fishing will certainly improve with warmer water temperatures.
