Flounder fishing in the back bay areas behind Ocean City and Assateague Island continue to be good this week; some of the better locations have been the Main East Channel, the Route 50 Bridge area, the Thorofare and in front of the Ocean City Airport. Croakers are still part of the mix close to the inlet and spot are farther up Assawoman Bay. At the inlet flounder are being caught during the day and a lot of bluefish at night along with some striped bass.
Surf fishermen are once again catching a mix of spot, croaker and a few kingfish. There have been a lot of small bluefish in the surf lately and pieces of finger mullet have been one of the more popular baits to catch them on.
Medium sized croakers are being caught within a couple of miles of the beaches along with flounder. Out at the wreck and reef sites flounder have been the most reliable catch lately with some sea bass being caught.
Offshore the boats that are trolling out to the canyons are finding a mix of dolphin, white marlin and generally small yellowfin tuna such as this one held up by
Bob Borhofen.
