Spent time today at the Loch Raven Reservoir with my dad. The Loch Raven Reservoir was a bit frozen and I tried to cast past the ice and it was difficult. I am looking forward to the warm weather and great fishing time again.

With some good advice from DNR's Matt Sell and some helpful assistance from a couple other friendly fisherman, I caught my first fish through the ice while fishing at Piney Reservoir on 1-11-15. I hope to get out on the ice more and hope to see the folks that have helped me to get started ice fishing.

End the Year with a Few Catfish

Type: Freshwater
Region: Central
Location: Harford County Pond
Tags: catfish

12/27/14 was my last time fishing for the year, we went to the pond and I caught a few catfish. My sister had some good bites on some bluegill. Weather was very nice that day. This year has been some great fishing for me, and my best fish of the year with a 4 pound largemouth bass. I can't wait for spring so we can start going fishing for trophy rockfish!

School of Bluefish

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Mid Bay
Location: Franklin Manor Pier
Tags: bluefish

My dad and I went fishing on a Sunday after dinner, before it got dark. Boy were the bluefish biting. Whole schools would come by and we would have fish on more than one line. We went home because the bluefish were so crazy they messed up our lines. We started with 4 poles but after a few catches we were down to only two lines, it was really crazy and fun!

Picture is of me holding two 17 inch bluefish before we put them back in the water. My dad was taking them off the hooks and my job to put them back into the water. I am also wearing the lucky fishing shirt from Mr. Tyler, it has rockfish on it but we didn't catch any that day.

Colder Weather, Less Bites

Type: Freshwater
Region: Central
Location: Local Pond
Tags: Sunfish, Catfish

Had a great time fishing today. Catfish weren't biting, but the panfish were. By the end of the day we finally caught some. The biggest one was a 9 incher. The cold weather is having effect on the fish not biting too well, but anytime I have a fishing pole in my hand I have a great time.

No Luck til After Dark

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Mid Bay
Location: Franklin Manor Pier
Tags: bluefish

My dad and I were fishing on Franklin Manor Pier. We had no luck until it got dark. And then bluefish started biting. The biggest one we caught was a 17 inch blue fish and we took a quick picture before we put it back in the bay. We caught all the fish on one rod as it was the lucky one.
