50 Diamond Jim Fish Tagged

Type: Chesapeake
Region:
Location: Chesapeake Bay
Tags: Striped Bass, Diamond Jim Tagging

Ryley had the privilege of participating in the DNR Diamond Jim tagging program with other Maryland Youth Fishing Club members. They fished the Chesapeake Bay aboard the Never Enuff Charter Boat. Today they tagged their quota of 50 Striped Bass! They also caught many undersized fish amd even got to keep a few for home! It was a tough day as Bluefish continually stole bait but the kids managed to even the score by putting over 40 Bluefish in the boat. Ryley didn't catch the biggest today but he managed to catch the most unique, a "humpback" striped bass was successfully caught, tagged and released. They caught all those fish and were back to the dock by 1:00 pm! Thanks Department of Natural Resources!

On July 31st Nathan went fishing aboard Never E-Nuff charters with Captain Shawn Pruitt out of Deale, MD to tag fish for the “Diamond Jim” fishing challenge. We caught and tagged 50 rockfish for the contest . We also caught a lot of Bluefish and even more rockfish. Captain Shawn and his first mate Steve made the trip really fun and exciting. The marine biologists from DNR on board were also very nice and answered all of our questions. Nathan can’t wait to go fishing on Never E-Nuff again. Thanks!

No Fish Just Ponies at Assateague

Type: Ocean
Region: Eastern
Location: Assateague Island, MD
Tags: Catfish, White Perch, Striped Bass

Last week my mom and dad took me to Assateague Island State Park to fish, see the ponies, and to do the Park Quest. We didn't catch any fish but we did see a couple of ponies.

I also visited my mom and dad's friends Bob and Sandy. Bob took us fishing at Crosswicks Creek in his boat. I caught a lot of fish (catfish, white perch, and one small rockfish). I released everything that I caught. I had a great day at both the places that I went to.
