Diamond Jim Tagging with DNR

Type: Chesapeake
Location: Chesapeake Bay

I love when I fish with friends and family but most of all I like when my family and I are out on the boat fishing for huge rockfish. My brother and I took a trip to Chesapeake Beach on the boat Patience to tag Diamond Jim with my Dad and Mom. We took our friend to tag Diamond Jim with us. Our friend, Justen and my brother reeled in the second biggest rockfish caught on the boat that day. I reeled in a big rockfish, it was 30 inches long. It was a giant. (The rockfish that I caught was the biggest one caught all day.) I loved tagging Diamond Jim with friends and family and I'll reel in any big fish any day!!!

Pasadena Tournament

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Down's State Park

I like to fish, I like to fish so much I don't even mind getting up early to go fishing. This morning we got up really early to travel to Pasadena, MD. We went to Down's State Park and we were entered into a fishing tournament. We gathered our rods and we put our worms on the hook dropped our lines and we were off catching all kinds of fish. I caught quite of few Spots, White Perch, and to my surprise I caught a rockfish. I was shy 1/8 of an inch on winning a trophy. But that is ok my brother won one of the door prizes. We had a great lunch and a really fun day fishing. They even gave a lot of fishing tools to use for the future. They were really nice to us. I like fishing with my family, it gets us out on the water and time together to have fun.

FUN FUN FUN -Tagging for Diamond Jim

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Upper Bay
Location: Chesapeake Bay

WooHoo!!! What an exciting day. I was excited to hear that I was able to go on a boat with the DNR biologists to tag for Diamond Jim. I knew I would have fun butů I NEVER thought I would have as much fun as I did that day.

I like to fish anytime I possilbly can. I like being near the water and pulling fish up and never knowing what you will catch. But today we were going out just to catch rockfish. We were on a quest to catch big rockfish, and tag them for the Diamond Jim contest.

We started out by putting our fishing rods out with artificial parachute rigs. (First time I heard of these rigs.) We waited for the moment when the fish would strike the hooks. We were trolling the whole time. The first fish hit and then the next. There were so many fish hitting the lines. We were all excited to be able to catch a fish. My largest rockfish was 29.09 inches. I pulled and reeled the fish on my rod. The fish was really putting up a fight. The belt they placed around my waist helped me to bring that large fish in.

I was really enjoying watching the biologist tag, weigh, and measure my fish. I loved when we were able to release the fish back into the water. I am excited to see if someone is going to catch my fish and where will they catch him? I had so much fun tagging for Diamond Jim. Thank you for my exciting day DNR.

Fishing is Fun With Family and Friends

Type: Freshwater
Region: Central
Location: Bynum Run Pond Fishing Rodeo

What I like about the fishing tournaments are, that we can have fun with our families. We have memories of fun times when we catch all the fish. I love catching big fish like Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, catfish, Bluegills and more.

When the days are slow with catching fish and we don't really catch anything, we go and catch the little fish at a pond my Dad knows, just so we can have fun. My Dad helps us out with teaching us how to catch the really big fish, and helps my brother and I know what bait to use. My Mom like to cheer us on and take pictures.

I like the different ponds we go to for the tournaments because we catch a different variety of fish. I like the prizes they have too, sometimes we win, and sometimes we loose, but it does not really matter because I have fun fishing with my friends and my family.
