A 5 Fish Species Day!

Type: Tidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Tuckahoe River

On February 22, 2014, I went fishing with my Dad and our friend, Mr. Keith Lockwood on the Tuckahoe River. We were bottom fishing using worms and cut bait, but the worms were working best. The three of us caught a total of 11 fish, and I caught 9 of them! We caught a Striped Bass, White Perch, Channel Catfish, White Catfish and a Yellow Perch. We released all of them except for one Channel Catfish and a few medium sized White Perch which I ate for dinner that night!

My First Largemouth Bass of the Year!

Location: Local Pond

On March 2nd, I went fishing with my Dad and sister, Laura, at my neighbor's pond. I caught the bass on my fly rod using a foam fly pattern that I made called "the foam dragon". The bass was 16.5", and we released it so someone else can enjoy catching it another day.

My Double-Header

Type: Tidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Hillsboro

I went fishing with my dad, 2 sisters, and my dad's friend in Hillsboro. We were fishing for Yellow Perch on March 11, 2014. My first fish was a small Yellow Perch and then I caught a double-header which were both keepers. Then, I caught my last fish that was a small one. Both of my keepers were about 9 1/2 inches.

Signs of a True Fisherman

Type: Freshwater
Region: Central
Location: Eastern Shore

My son, Tommy, has been sick this week and has missed a couple of days of school. However, he was well enough this evening to venture over to my neighbor's pond and catch his first fish of 2012a small largemouth bass on a jig tipped with a minnow.

He also had a nice 15-inch bass chase his bait, but he was not able to hook it.

I'm looking forward to going back with him to catch that bigger bass
