Fishing at Friendship Park
Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Friendship Park in Pisgah, MD
I was out this morning at dawn at Friendship Park in Pisgah, MD and saw several of these fish carcases washed up on the shore they were about 2 - 3 feet in length and had a beak like snout with teeth. Wondering what kind of fish would these be?
While out I also caught some nice white perch using a spinner bait. The fish were very active until the sun was all the way up.
DNR Response: The photo isn’t the best but we believe the carcass is a gar, gars are native to these waters and this is the time of year they spawn. Occasionally the fish do not survive past the spawning period. gar
