Golden Shiners in Frog Mortar Creek
Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Frog Mortar Creek, Middle River
For the better part of 2 months the golden shiners have been hanging in the shallows around Frog Mortar Creek. Ranging in various sizes as per the picture. I was told that the small golden shiner appears silver in color and then when it mature, it takes on a golden color. As you can see in the picture the top one is silver with a gold patch of scales. While I was fishing with Ultralight gear I ran into a school of them in the early morning hours. Hope they stay around, great rockfish bait, livelined !
