Mattawoman Snakehead
Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Mattawoman Creek
The snakehead was caught on a black and blue chatterbait by the sunken barge in Mattawoman Creek. It bit and immediately dove for the weeds. If it weren't for the 30 lb braid I was using, I don't think I would have been able to get the fish into the boat. It had a freshly-killed mole in its mouth and was full of unfertilized eggs.
