Bumpy Oak Road Pond Snakehead

Type: Freshwater
Region: Southern
Location: Bumpy Oak Road Pond

I had some off time so I decide to fish at Bumpy Oak Road Pond. Caught two snakeheads not weighing more than a pound each. I think the best method in killing them without the fish suffering is a good wack or two with a bat on its head. It's a lot less messy too.

DNR Reply: Clubbing the fish on the head is a great way to try and immobilize it. To be certain it is dead (and to legally transport it), MD DNR is asking anglers to decapitate it, gut it, pull out its gill arches, or fillet it. Of these, pulling out its gill arch is probably the least messy. Thanks for helping to control the population out there!
