Spanish Mackerel and Rockfish on the Potomac
Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River
I read your reports all the time and enjoy the pictures. Recently my nephew Jeff caught a very nice Spanish mackerel just south of the RT 301 bridge on the Potomac River. It measured in at 25 inches (Maryland Citation). We were trolling for rockfish when this Spanish hit. As I lifted him into the boat he bit off my lure and fell to the deck. I was very surprised that we landed it with mono. Please see attached pictures of our daily catch aboard my boat the "LEXY LOU". Over all we caught 30 rockfish and kept our limit of 2/person.
