North Branch Fly Fishing
Type: Freshwater
Region: Western
Location: N. Branch of the Potomac
I have fished the North Branch over the course of the last two weekends. Both weekends I have caught a good number of trout with a few bruisers mixed in. The bite has been steady on tandem nymph rigs with a prince nymph as the point fly and an egg or san juan worm as the dropper. I did see a good number of trout rising to midges on 12/01/2012, but not enough to motivate me to switch rigs. I hooked this large male rainbow in a deep slow moving hole, at the end of a long drift. Hunting season really clears the creeks for the dedicated fly fishers.
