More Middle Patuxent Trout
Location: Middle Patuxent
I have been fishing the Middle Patuxent on a few of the nicer days since my last report about a warrior rainbow trout I pulled out of the river and here are some pictures of the nice holdover I got on my 5'8'' 4wt classic from bass pro shops on a size 8 all black WB with purple hackle. That short rod is great for whipping heavy flies in tight spots with precision, and again as I stated in my last report if you think your fly is too big when fishing here… GO BIGGER! I have heard from other fisherman, I have small talked with here, that they have not seen a single trout but I seem to have proved that to be false. Every trip I start at the one lane bridge on Old Columbia Rd. and fish downstream to Eaden Brook Rd. and always land at least a half a dozen creek chub; trout or no trout. It’s a great stretch of water and if you have a whole day to fish and enjoy a challenge, make a trip to the Middle Patuxent before the DNR takes care of the pre-season stocking, which every local fisherman in the state is loosing sleep over, and try for some holdovers. I obviously don't keep my favorite fishing hole a secret because I want people to have the same experience I do and life is to short not to share! That being said does anybody know where I can find some late winter brookie action in Maryland? TIGHT LINES EVERYONE!
