Birthday Charter Was a Hit

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Mid Bay
Location: Chesapeake Beach

Myself and 13 friends chartered a boat out of Chesapeake Beach to celebrate our buddy's birthday on 11/02/13. Many on board had never been fishing at all, let alone on a professional charter. We headed out mid-day into nice warm weather expecting to catch a few rockfish and have a little fun relaxing over the course of 7 hours on the Bay.

Well we sure picked the right day to fish! About and hour and a half into the trip, as we headed into mid-bay we had not had a single bite. Quickly, the weather changed to a steady, cold drizzle and we snagged our first fish of the day, a healthy 22 incher. As the rain picked up the Captain led us to a spot away from the other charters. He had a good feeling on the spot and we trusted him. Man did he deliver! Within 4 hours we caught the state limit. One good sized rockfish after the other. On top of that, all of our fish were much bigger than expected, the smallest being 20" and the largest 34". The spot was so good we even had to throw a few big ones back since we came to our limit so quickly. Can't wait to get back out there!

I gotta say, it was a good day on the Bay!
