GenOn is a power company with aquaculture facilities at their Patuxent River Chalk Point Generating station in Aquasco,. Mirants Environmental Group has cooperated with Maryland DNR since the striped bass restoration efforts of 1980s. They provide extensive grow out facilities, a full staff and supplies to assist in American shad, hickory shad, yellow perch and Atlantic sturgeon culture. The Center for Environmental Science Chesapeake Biological Laboratory has cooperated in larval shad research.
