PROPOSED STRIPED BASS REGULATIONS PUBLIC HEARING

Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Fisheries Service has scheduled a public hearing on proposed striped bass regulations on May 20, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the C-1 Conference Room of the Tawes State Office Building, 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401.

The proposed regulations: add an exception for a beneficiary to the pound net certification requirement for striped bass permittees; require that striped bass caught by commercial hook and line be tagged immediately upon harvest; require that striped bass caught by pound net be tagged within 100 yards of the pound net; and prohibit more than one type of striped bass tag and permit card on a vessel at any one time.

All interested parties are invited to attend and give their views. Sign language interpreters and other appropriate accommodations for individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request.
