The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) pursuant to the Code of Maryland Regulations 08.02.05.22 announces a possession limit modification to the commercial scup fishery. The National Marine Fisheries Service is projecting that 80 percent of the Winter I period (January 1 – April 30) commercial quota for the scup fishery has been harvested. As a result, the commercial scup possession limit will be reduced from 30,000 pounds to 1,000 pounds. Effective 12:01 am March 18, 2008, vessels landing at Maryland ports are prohibited from landing or possessing more than 1,000 pounds of scup through April 30, 2008, or until the Winter I period quota is harvested.
