The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), pursuant to Natural Resources Article §4-1106(d), Annotated Code of Maryland, is closing areas in the upper Chesapeake Bay, including Natural Oyster Bars (NOB) 4-1 and 2-8, known as Mountain Point, Six Foot Knoll and Seven Foot Knoll, to oyster harvesting from October 1, 2008 through October 31, 2008. Oyster harvesting will reopen November 1, 2008.
All of the area (NOB chart 4) enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near Mountain Point on Gibson Island (DC1A), defined by Lat. 39° 03.553' N and Long. 76° 25.990' W; then running on a line through Baltimore Lighthouse approximately 90° True to a point at or near the west side of the Craighill Entrance Channel (DC1B), defined by Lat. 39° 03.551' N and Long. 76° 23.573' W; then running approximately 347° True along the west side of the Craighill Entrance Channel to a point at or near Coast Guard Lighted Buoy 9 (DC1C), defined by Lat. 39° 04.165' N and Long. 76° 23.748' W; then running north along the west side of the Craighill Channel to a point at or near Coast Guard Lighted Buoy 15 (DC1D), defined by Lat. 39° 06.990' N and Long. 76° 23.752' W; then running on a line through Craighill Entrance Channel Rear Range approximately 275° True to a point at or near the shore on Bodkin Neck (DC1E), defined by Lat. 39° 07.145' N and Long. 76° 25.971' W; then running southerly along the shore of Bodkin Neck and Gibson Island to the point of beginning.
All of the area (NOB chart 2) enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near Coast Guard Lighted Buoy 18 on the east side of Craighill Channel (DC2A), defined by Lat. 39° 07.567' N and Long. 76° 23.575' W; then running approximately 89° True to a point at or near Swan Point Channel Lighted Buoy 8 (DC2B), defined by Lat. 39° 07.605' N and Long. 76° 19.183' W; then running approximately 335° True to a point at or near Brewerton Channel Eastern Extension Buoy Lighted Bell 2BE (DC2C), defined by Lat. 39° 08.917' N and Long. 76° 19.978' W; then running approximately 291° True along the north side of the Brewerton Channel Eastern Extension to a point at or near Brewerton Channel Lighted Buoy 2B (DC2D), defined by Lat. 39° 10.713' N and Long. 76° 25.952' W; then running approximately 150° True to the point of beginning. Nine Foot Knoll Reserve is not included in this area. Nine Foot Knoll Reserve includes all of Natural Oyster Bar 2-8 enclosed by a line beginning at a point defined by Lat 39° 8.889'N, Long 76° 22.230'W, then running 100° True to a point defined by Lat 39° 8.763'N, Long 76° 21.346'W, then running 199° True to a point defined by Lat 39° 8.353'N, Long 76° 21.526'W, then running 289° True to a point defined by Lat 39° 8.544'N, Long 76° 22.232'W, then running 0° True to the point of beginning.
