The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has scheduled two public hearings to discuss proposed crab regulations. The first public hearing is at 6:00pm on January 27, 2009 in the meeting room of the Queen Anne's County Library Kent Island Branch, 200 Library Circle, Stevensville, Maryland 21666. The second public hearing is at 6:00pm on February 4, 2009 in Fellowship Hall at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD 21401.
The proposed action modifies commercial and recreational regulations on female catch and sets commercial bushel limits by license type. Recreational crabbing licensing provisions are modified and registration for previously unlicensed crabbers would be required. There are additional modifications to other rules and the Maryland Register, www.dsd.state.md.us, or the Fisheries Service website, www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/, should be consulted for the full text of the proposals.
All interested parties are invited to attend and give their views. Sign language interpreters and other appropriate accommodations for individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request.
